Bethel Park Baseball Recreational Program

Bethel Park Baseball – Recreational Program Overview

Recreational Program Overview

Overview

The Bethel Park Baseball (BPB) recreational program serves as the foundation of our organization, providing an inclusive and development-focused baseball experience for players ages 4–18. The program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and community involvement in a positive, family-friendly environment.

Program Objectives

  • Develop baseball fundamentals while fostering a lifelong love for the game.
  • Ensure every player receives fair playing time and opportunities to learn multiple positions.
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect for coaches, umpires, and opponents.
  • Provide a fun, safe, and structured environment for players of all skill levels.

Divisions

  • Tee Ball: Ages 4–5
  • Shetland: Ages 5–6
  • Pinto (Coach Pitch): Ages 7–8
  • Mustang (Kid Pitch): Ages 9–10
  • Bronco: Ages 11–12
  • Pony: Ages 13–14
  • Colt: Ages 15–16
  • Legion: Ages 17–18

League Structure

  • Divisions are organized by age to ensure balanced, competitive play.
  • Teams are drafted or assigned to maintain parity across the league.
  • Divisions play 1–2 games per week, with one game during the week and one on Saturday.
  • Divisions will have 3–4 practices in the first two weeks of the season.
  • The spring season runs from early April through late May, followed by postseason play in our Pinto League and higher in early June.
  • The fall season runs from mid-August through the end of October. There is no postseason play.

Coaching & Volunteer Support

  • All teams are led by volunteer coaches who have valid and up-to-date clearances.
  • Coaches are encouraged to focus on fundamentals, effort, and fun over win–loss records.
  • Parents are welcome to volunteer as assistant coaches, scorekeepers, or field coordinators.

Registration & Season Details

  • Registration opens December 1 each year for our Spring Program and June 1 for our Fall Program.
  • Players are notified of team assignments within 3 weeks of their first practice.
  • Uniforms are provided as part of registration fees.
  • Team pictures are taken during the Spring Season on Opening Day.
  • Teams can expect to play approximately 12 games per season.

Connection to Travel Program

Participation in the BPB recreational program is a prerequisite for Travel Baseball eligibility. Players who wish to compete in the BPB Travel Program must register for and actively participate in the in-house recreational season.
